What’s in a blog?
I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing with this blog. I’ve struggled in the past to determine what to do with blogs in general and I’ve always gone in circles. I’ve taken to journaling, but I do that in a physical book and this isn’t really the place for that. I like to let those get personal and I can’t do that if I’m sharing it with the world. Plus I’ve also come to find that if I’m here talking about how little I’ve done with my writing is time I could be spent putting words on the page elsewhere.
I would like to use this blog as something productive rather than complain and complain. If I could celebrate my work done and what I enjoyed that might be a good use of the blog. There have been some events worth celebrating, such as my failed NaNoWriMo attempt. It was a failure but I hit 49K words, which is something to cheer about.
Maybe that’s the trick. More cheering about what I’ve done, even if it’s something small and minor. In that case while I’ve done little writing this week (or last in particular) I have done bits here and there. I’ve currently done about 3,140 words for a short story that I’m poking at. I have a publisher lined up, and I can even recorded it for an audio book. All I have to do is write the silly thing and then edit it. Sadly that’s easier said than done, but hey I’ve got a start on it!
So let’s go with this. More cheering and “hey I did something!” and less “well fuck me I only wrote 150 words in the past two weeks.” I have a talent for taking something, no matter how small, and making it big. Let’s make them victories rather than defeats. (Like writing 49K for NaNoWriMo and it being a ‘failure’ because I failed to hit 50k.)
